INVITATION TO PRAY
Please note, the last Invitation to Pray will be on Tuesday 1st December.
We will be re-opening this invitation in January.
During this lockdown period we recognise the importance of prayer, staying focused on our loving Father and again, remembering what we can do rather than get bogged down with what we can't do. With these things in mind, there will be regular opportunities to come to the chapel for silent prayer over the next couple of weeks and this can be as creative or as simple as you make it. You are invited to come to pray, using this time to connect with God, listen to His voice, pray, praise, worship. Looking after our physical and mental wellbeing is more important than ever and this includes having a purpose and focus to help motivate us. The chapel will be a safe and prayerful place to come, with all the guidelines in place. It will be unlocked and pre-heated for you, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 10am and 2pm and again on Saturday 11am to 2pm. It will be manned during opening times, so if there are any issues, please go to the chapel office, remaining socially distant and somebody will be there to help or answer any questions. So, practically all you need to do on arrival and exit is sign in/out, use the hand sanitiser provided and wear a face mask. Also, please use the anti vac wipes to wipe your seat before leaving. Any queries, please get in touch with Clare Green by email at: Clare.firstname.lastname@example.org
Home for Good
Matthew 25 37-40 “Then those ‘sheep’ are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’
Home for Good in BANES has a very simple vision and that is that we find a loving home for every child that needs one through fostering and adoption. As we head toward Christmas we are excited to tell you that we only need 5 new foster placements to make sure every child in our area has a loving family. Wouldn't it be incredible if the Church could meet this need over this festive period and you could be part of that? Remember, there is no top age for fostering and the needs of children run from babies to teenagers. Maybe you could help us become the first local authority in the country to say that we met the needs of vulnerable kids!
Please contact Dave Kingswood at email@example.com
or call 07533978055 to chat about adoption or fostering. We look forward to hearing from you.
As usual, we will be filling hampers for our Health Visitors to distribute to 60 of the local families most in need of support over Christmas. Preparations are well under way and we are now only short of tins of fruit, savoury snacks and small packets of biscuits, the latter preferably in festive packaging, please. If you would like to contribute any of these items, please label your donations "FOR HAMPERS" and deliver them by Monday 7th December to Sally Petit's house or directly Elizabeth Maggs at the Salvation Army Hall in Midsomer Norton on any Monday from 10am - 2pm.
Go Live Sundays
These broadcast on YouTube every Sunday at 10.30am. Click here to hop over and join us this week and also see what we have been doing since March. If you are joining us for the first time, please say 'Hi!' and join the online chat room afterwards.
N'Fest is on our YouTube channel (click here
) and is broadcast at 9.30am every second, fourth and fifth Sunday of the month, whilst we are meeting in our Communities. During Lockdown all episodes will be online. If you are unable to join us at one of our venues then there are lots of past episodes that can be viewed each week. If any young person, who is not able to attend a Community, would like the materials for the current week's craft, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can make sure the items are sent to your home address so that everyone can feel included.
One Church - 4 Communities
Welton Communities has returned! We will be restarting this Sunday (6th). Our services will resume to being on the first and third Sunday of each month. Remember to book your space.
Our four venues are based in Timsbury, 2 in Farrington Gurney and Paulton. These services start at 10.30am and last for one hour. Our on line services will continue for those unable to meet in person and each community will be listening to the on line preach together so that we continue to have a sense of unity. A great deal of planning and work has gone into making these communities as safe as we can and bookings are essential as we need to know who and how many will be attending each venue in order to plan safe seating etc. If you are not part of Welton Church but would like to attend, please email email@example.com
and we can put you in touch with a community leader. For more information please see here.
Would you like to join a house group? We believe that our house groups are an essential part of church life, and even more so during these times. Growing deeper friendships and trust often happens within house groups as well as discipleship. We have lots of different house groups , some for women, some for men, some during the day and others in the evenings. Some meet every week and some meet 'as and when', so we hope that you can find one that suits your needs. All groups are currently meeting on 'Zoom' in line with current guidelines. If you are interested in joining a group or would like more information please contact Clare at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Welton Church Runners
Welton Church Runners meet every Saturday, come rain, shine or lockdown, at 9am outside the Somer Centre in Midsomer Norton in line with the current government guidelines. Walkers are also welcome.
The only difference during lockdown is that you pair up into 2's beforehand. Please contact Eugene Kertzman for more information (01761 434229
With Christmas fast approaching, many families will be feeling under more pressure than usual to try and get food on the table as well as buying presents. Around this time of year Foodbank collect extra treats so that they can be included in the food bags given out to clients. Elizabeth has provided a list of current needs
, so next time you are out shopping why not pick up a couple of extra items and pass them on to Foodbank? Donations can be left at Phi & Sally's.
